About Us
BalanceLab is a private audiovestibular diagnostic clinic in Kitchener–Waterloo. We conduct tests which help healthcare providers find the cause of dizziness, hearing loss, disequilibrium and vertigo. Our goal is to improve care for dizzy patients in our community by coordinating rehabilitative, medical and diagnostic services across disciplines. We strive to provide education and context during your visit, and believe every individual should be empowered to become an advocate in their own care.
The clinic grew out of the Kitchener-Waterloo Balance Centre, which opened in 2015 as a joint venture by local ENT specialists to bring specialized testing to the region. Anton joined as clinical audiologist in 2017 and took over ownership and operations in 2020, reorienting the practice towards a whole-person approach to dizziness.
Approach
Our understanding of dizziness & vestibular disorders has moved considerably in the last two decades. The problem is that this hasn't always filtered into community practice.
BalanceLab is built around the idea that community patients deserve the same standard of care as those seen at a teaching hospital - history-first, test-battery-informed, and interpreted as a whole rather than in parts. Your story remains the most powerful diagnostic tool available to us.
This means keeping pace with current literature, seeking cutting edge educational opportunities, and maintaining a commitment to providing technically sound and person-oriented care.
Background
Anton holds a Master of Science in Audiology from Dalhousie University and a Joint Honours Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Psychology from the University of Ottawa, where he graduated summa cum laude. He has completed training in CBT fundamentals, which informs his approach to patients whose dizziness intersects with anxiety and chronic symptoms.
Clinical training included placements at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, the Canada Hearing Society, and the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, where he completed vestibular clinical rotations. He is registered with CASLPO.
What drew him to vestibular audiology: the complexity, the instrumentation, the opportunity to write about himself in third person. Anton is kept busy by his two young children and hits a one-handed backhand.
